The EU-supported documentary about missing persons in Kosovo titled Water and Candles
premiered tonight in Pristina's Kino ARMATA .
"The issue of more than 1600 missing persons remains one of the most painful topics in Kosovo,
and the work to discover their fate and provide solace to their families must continue," said EU
Ambassador in Kosovo, Tomas Szunyog, at the movie screening.
EU Special Representative for the Belgrade-Pristina Dialogue and other Western Balkan regional
issues Miroslav Lajcak added that “Missing Persons is an urgent humanitarian issue. It is
important for the families and loved ones of the missing to be able to find closure. This is why
we also pay special attention to it in the Dialogue on normalization of relations.”
The purpose of the documentary produced by KOSOVO 2.0 & Humanitarian Law Center Kosovo
is to contribute to the public discussion and raise awareness about the issue of missing persons,
ensuring that it remains an important issue.
The documentary was produced as a part of the EU-funded project aiming to mobilize media
and civil society organizations and improve their ability to research, investigate, and report
about the fate of missing persons in Kosovo.
